Famous for its dense population of elephants and iconic baobab trees, Tarangire offers excellent wildlife viewing, especially during the dry season when animals congregate around the Tarangire River.
Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania and is particularly famous for its large elephant population and baobab trees. The park forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra. During the dry season, the Tarangire River is the only permanent water source in the area, making it a magnet for wildlife.
